FirstHOME Buyer Assistance Program

This program is meant to help first-time home buyers better afford homeownership — the program provides deferred loans to qualified borrowers which can be used towards down payment assistance, closing costs, or home improvements.

Borrowers could be eligible for up to $10,000 in loans with 0% interest. Income limits apply to this program and the limits are determined by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Potential borrowers need to demonstrate at least three years of full-time permanent employment.

The home purchased needs to be the primary residence of the borrowers — the home needs located in Ramsey County (St. Paul is excluded). Homes that meet the criteria are condos, townhomes, duplexes and single-family detached homes. The maximum purchase price cannot exceed $168,000.
