Dakota County Community Development Agency (CDA) - Give Yourself Credit Program

This program offers Dakota County homebuyers access to fixed, low-interest mortgage financing and a Mortgage Credit Certificate. It also offers up to $10,000 through the CDA First Time Homebuyer program to be put towards downpayments or closing costs.

Applicants need to be first time homebuyers and cannot have owned a home in the previous three years. However, honorably discharged veterans are welcome to apply regardless of the first time homebuyer status (but veterans wishing to apply cannot have utilized a similar program to this in the past).

Potential properties need to be located with the county limits of Dakota County. The home purchased must be the primary residence of the homebuyer. Applicants must have a credit score of at least 640. Townhomes, single family homes and condos in the county all qualify for the program — the max purchase price cannot exceed $273,570.

Summary:

  • Properties must be located in Dakota County.
  • Must be first time homebuyers (veterans have special exceptions).
  • Up to $10,000 offered through the CDA First Time Homebuyer program.
  • Applicants must have a credit score of 640.
