The neighborhood of Ericsson is located in Minneapolis within the Nokomis Community. The neighborhood is surrounded by Hiawatha Avenue, Minnehaha Parkway, 42nd and 43rd streets and Cedar Avenue. The neighborhood name honors John Ericsson, a Swedish engineer who designed the U.S.S. Monitor for the U.S. Navy during the Civil War.
Many of the homes in this neighborhood were constructed in the mid to early 20th century. The architectural styles include: mini Tudors, some one story Ranch style homes and a variety of Bungalows.

Life here offers residents a myriad of opportunities for leisure. Ericsson’s western half is dominated by recreational land, including Lake Hiawatha Park and Lake Hiawatha Golf Course. The Hiawatha Lake Park Recreation Center offers a schedule of year round activities in arts and crafts, dance and education. Minnehaha Creek crosses through the southern portion of Ericsson.
