The neighborhood of Lyndale is located in south central Minneapolis within the greater Powderhorn Community. The neighborhood is surrounded by Stevens Avenue, Lyndale Avenue South, Lake Street and 36th Street. It was named for Lyndale Avenue, which is named after the famous Minnesota Lyndale farm.

This area is located in the heart of Minneapolis and is largely residential, but has a strong mix of commercial use. There is plenty of dining, drink and nightlife options in this neighborhood and surrounding area. There are many great local businesses and shopping options as well. Minneapolis is home to many great lakes, from Lake Nokomis to Lake Calhoun, and outdoor activities on these bodies of water are minutes from Lyndale.

Lyndale is a predominantly residential neighborhood in Minneapolis, though there is a commercial strip that includes businesses, restaurants, coffee shops and boutique stores along Lake Street. Lyndale is also close enough to downtown Minneapolis and some of the museums and art centers in the city. There are a number of parks and other places to enjoy the outdoors. A high concentration of artists live in the Lyndale community.
