Ramsey Minnesota Real Estate
Ramsey is both the name of a city and a county in Minnesota. Named after Minnesota's governor elected in 1861, Alexander Ramsey, the city is located about 26 miles north of Minneapolis. Though no main thoroughfares run through the Ramsey, Highways 169 and 47 run along either side, making commuting to the Twin Cities and its suburbs easier than in some of the other nearby towns.
The lack of a major artery through Ramsey has kept this community quite sheltered from the noise of urban life. Despite this, the Ramsey community is thriving while maintaining an identity of a quiet place to live. More than half of Ramsey's borders are on the Rum and Mississippi Rivers, and over 15 percent of its area is protected wetlands. The City of Ramsey also boasts 43 city parks with the usual amenities and several lakes.
Homes here are inclined to be newer, lots tend to be large, and many are close to some wooded areas. Though Ramsey has a few convenience stores, some services, and family-style restaurants, not a lot of development is projected for this area in the near future. This means Ramsey’s natural beauty will be proudly displayed for years to come.
