Savage Minnesota Real Estate

About 20 miles from Downtown Minneapolis and 25 miles from Downtown St. Paul, the small city of Savage is home to about 20,000 residents. It was at one time named “Hamilton Landing,” but all that changed when a horse owned by M.W. Savage broke the long-standing world pacing mile record. The horse, Dan Patch, is a persistent figure in the city, as his name adorns businesses and buildings throughout Savage. This horse culture fits in nicely into this area as Canterbury Park is located in neighboring Shakopee.

Not surprisingly, though it’s close to the most populated area of the upper Midwest, Savage is still considered part of Minnesota's "horse country." Savage is a sprawling, growing community that works closely with neighboring cities to provide its residents with a high quality of life. Comprised of a lot of open space, Savage is the very definition of “urban sprawl” as it continues to grow out rather than up. Homes are typically newer and rest on larger lots than those in many other suburban communities. If wide open spaces, country roads, and small-town living are what you desire, Savage may be your place to call home.
