West 7th - Homecroft Neighborhood of St. Paul
West 7th Homes for Sale
The West 7th neighborhood of St. Paul could be considered the historic heart and soul of the city. It was a popular area for settlement in the 1850s through the 1890s. Close to Fort Snelling, many of the original settlers were former soldiers and fur traders. Much of Saint Paul was built up around West 7th's breweries, foundries, factories and railroad shops that dominated the late 19th century landscape.
Today, there are many options for West 7th homes and condos in a variety of architectural styles. There are some fine examples of pre-Civil War stone houses, red brick row houses, and Queen Anne Victorians to be found here. The West 7th / Fort Road Federation, a neighborhood association, actually assists in the rejuvenation of six to eight buildings per year, which has helped this community thrive through the modernization of Minnesota homes.
Great housing choices, a variety of local unique shops, and numerous casual and upscale restaurants are the hallmarks of Saint Paul’s West 7th neighborhood.
