Whittier Minneapolis Real Estate

Whittier is a neighborhood in Minneapolis and a member of the greater Powderhorn Community. Located in the southern part of the city, its boundaries are Lake Street West, Franklin Avenue, Interstate 35W, and Lyndale Avenue South. It was named in honor of Quaker poet John Greenleaf Whittier. This neighborhood was one of first communities settled in Minneapolis.

This neighborhood has a variety of architectural styles. There are mansions that were constructed for affluent families in the late 19th century, modest wood frame houses and brownstone row houses made in the early 20th century and more modern homes that were built in recent decades.

Whittier Minneapolis Neighborhood Information

Blaisdell and Third Avenues in Whittier boast some of the oldest houses in the city of Minneapolis. Whittier also has local businesses, a children's theatre, and diverse restaurants. The City of Lakes Waldorf School, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and Watershed High School are all found here.
