The neighborhood of Willard-Hay is located in northwest Minneapolis in the greater Near North Community. It’s surrounded by Penn Avenue, Theodore Wirth Park Olson Highway and Broadway Avenue. This area is almost entirely residential and has very active residents who take pride in their community and all it has to offer. Willard Hay has acres of parkland that give the residents here plenty to do in all the Minnesota seasons. There are spots to relax and enjoy the sights, walking and biking trails, baseball and soccer fields, picnic areas and much more.
The Near North Community has some of the best examples of grand Queen Anne and Victorian style homes in all of Minneapolis. These ornate homes are concentrated in the Old Highland neighborhood and were built in the late 19th century. There are also Bungalow and Craftsman homes, as well as a mix of a few other styles, that make up the majority of homes in Willard-Hay.

Willard-Hay is named after two elementary schools that are in the community, which were named after Francis Willard, an American educator, and John Hay, a diplomat and author. Locals often refer to Willard-Hay as Willard-Homewood. Willard-Hay is mainly a residential area that is extremely family oriented.
